The Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Google, another major technology partner that will help move the use of artificial intelligence in schools to the next phase. According to the plan, by the end of 2026 teachers should gain access to modern AI tools, schools to new technological solutions, and the education system to stronger support for the development of digital skills.
The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Google. This step strengthens the integration of artificial intelligence into schools in Slovakia and builds on partnerships with technology companies such as Microsoft, OpenAI, and NVIDIA.
The ministry’s goal is to ensure that by the end of 2026 all teachers in Slovakia have access to high-quality and secure AI tools that they can use directly in teaching. Cooperation with Google brings concrete opportunities to achieve this goal in practice.
AI tools for teachers and students
The memorandum opens the way for broader use of Google for Education tools, including AI-based solutions such as the Gemini assistant and Google NotebookLM. Teachers can use these tools for lesson preparation, content creation, and personalized learning.
At the same time, students will have the opportunity to work with technologies commonly used in practice. Schools will thus strengthen digital skills and better prepare students for an environment where AI plays an increasingly important role.
More modern schools and more efficient use of technology
The partnership also includes a plan to implement a pilot project focused on the use of ChromeOS and Chrome Flex. This approach will allow schools to extend the lifespan of existing devices and reduce the costs of their renewal.
It will also support sustainability and more efficient use of public resources. Schools can modernize their technological environment without the need for extensive investments.
Teacher development as a key step
The ministry is linking the adoption of technologies with the development of teachers’ competencies. Both parties have confirmed a shared intention to educate teachers, for example through programs focused on the practical use of artificial intelligence in teaching.
This approach builds on the introduced framework of AI competencies for teachers and professional staff, which clearly defines the skills educators should develop in the field of AI.
Connecting tools and training creates the conditions for teachers to use AI meaningfully and safely directly in the classroom.
Accessibility for all schools
The ministry emphasizes that all schools should have access to modern tools without distinction. Google’s tools also include features that support inclusive education and help students with diverse needs.
The goal is to create an environment where technology supports every student and helps reduce disparities between schools.
AI as part of a systemic change
The signing of the memorandum with Google fits into the ministry’s broader plan in the field of artificial intelligence. The ministry is gradually building an interconnected system that includes curriculum, methodologies, tools, and teacher support.
By the end of the year, the ministry aims to ensure access to high-quality AI tools for all teachers in Slovakia. Cooperation with Google represents another concrete step toward making artificial intelligence a natural part of modern education.
