The new AI literacy component in the national curriculum develops students’ critical thinking, safe use of AI tools, data skills, and understanding of AI’s impact on society. From March 2026, teachers will receive a framework to systematically teach artificial intelligence starting at the primary school level.

Support and Development of AI Competencies

Equal Access to AI
The aim is to ensure equal access to high-quality artificial intelligence tools for all pupils and students in Slovakia, regardless of their socio-economic background, region or their school’s level of technological equipment.
AI Days in Schools
One hundred primary and secondary schools received support to organize events focused on the use of artificial intelligence in education. AI Days created space for sharing experiences, practical demonstrations, and discussions about opportunities and challenges. Each school received a grant of €2,000.
